Prevent Illness with Essential Oils: Back to School Remedies

Prepare for colds, flu, fatigue, headaches, anxiety and stress – or better yet – prevent these from happening. Essential oils are a most valuable treatment to keep viruses and other pathogenic organisms from infecting you and your family. They help a person deal with the stress and fatigue of new schedules, new environments, increased traffic, increased demands on time and many other conditions related to the fall season and back to school days.

Start now. This is about prevention. Don’t wait for that nasty cold or flu to sneak up on you – or on your children. Take steps to build up immunity. Cleanse your home environment of pathogens by diffusing oils. Massage daily with a skin moisturizing formula containing strengthening and stress relieving essential oils. A couple of essential oil drops in the shower is a great way to keep your engines running and the sick bugs away.Virus

Ravensare, MQV, Geranium, Lavender and Eucalyptus Smithii are excellent health building and immune boosting oils. Rub, dab and smell a few times daily. This will help build up your immune system and prevent viral infections – the ideal alternative to questionable vaccinations.

Here are a few quick and easy remedies to prevent flu.

Immune Boost Shower
Use 4 – 6 drops of MQV or Ravensare rubbed behind the knee (2 – 3 drops each leg) and up the back of the leg. One additional drop can be applied to each foot and between the toes.
If the oil seems to be a non-irritant you can apply an additional 2 drops to the chest and neck.
You can apply these oils by stepping out of the running water or shut the shower off momentarily.

Alternatively, lavender and/or geranium are powerful regulating and tonic essential oils for showering with the added stress relieving effects.

For children

2 drops of lavender and 1 drop MQV can be rubbed behind the ankle, bottom of the feet and between the toes.

Flu Prevention Skin Moisture Massage Oil
Make a 4 ounce formula ready for application after bath or shower.
3.4 ounces (6.5 tbsp) – Organic olive or sunflower seed oil (or any vegetable oil choice)
0.5 ounce (1 tbsp) – Organic rosehip seed oil
0.05 ounce (1/4 tsp)- Vitamin E or squeeze 3 capsules of Vitamin E into mix.
60 drops of essential oil blend

15 drops Cedarwood
10 drops Copaiba
10 drops Palmarosa
10 drops Lemon
5 drops Bay Laurel
5 drops Eucalyptus Smithii
5 drops MQV

A bottle of MQV, ravensare, eucalyptus smithii or other strong antiviral and antibacterial oil can be carried around throughout the day and small amounts periodically dabbed around the nose, mouth and chest for added protection.

Relieve Stress, Anxiety and Agitation
Cape Chamomile, Neroli, Clary Sage and Ylang Ylang are stress and anxiety reducing oils. The citrus oils – lemon, orange and grapefruit – have a special place in relieving agitation in children due to their uplifting fragrance and association with happy emotional moments. These oils work best through inhalation, so whatever method you have of smelling the anti-stress oils or blends is going to be effective. Here are some ideas.

Smelling a RoseHappy Sniff
Create a blend in a 5 ml bottle. Place 2 – 3 drops of the blend on a tissue or cotton swab and simply sniff when needed. This blend may also be used in a diffuser or other method of dispensing the fragrance into the atmosphere.

20 drops Frankincense
20 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis)
15 drops Geranium
15 drops Cape Chamomile
10 drops Lemongrass (Cymbopogan flexuosus)
10 drops Vetiver

Any one of the stress relieving essential oils or blend of oils may be carried around during the day and smelled when agitated or feeling stressed.

An Ounce of Prevention, Or Just a Drop or Two
Using essential oils on a daily basis is your best mode of protection from viruses, bacteria and other infections common during the start of school and fall season. Essential oils are used to relieve stress and anxiety, especially for children starting a new school year. Since stress and anxiety lower immune function, the process of relieving emotional stressors will also provide further protection from illness.
