Welcome to Whole Food Beauty

Hi and welcome. I’m Jimm Harrison and this is my first post for this Whole Food Beauty blog. The idea is to provide information to people  interested in using a whole food philosophy in skin care. What’s that you may ask? Basically, it’s taking the same approach to skin care as you would a whole food organic diet. I present an overview of this in Skin Inc magazine’s September issue. I’ll post the url for the digital version when it goes online. Until then, the best thing to do is to checkout these articles I wrote for  Skin Inc magazine on Holistic Beauty and Skin Health, these are links to  June and July part I and part II.

To give you some background on me – I’m a clinical cosmetologist, and have been researching, writing  and teaching botanical skin care, Holistic Beauty and Health and teaching my aromatherapy certification courses in the spa and esthetics industry and at alternative medicine universities such as Bastyr University, for over 15 years. I also owned a spa, the first natural focused in the Boston area back in the early 90’s.

I wrote Aromatherapy: Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils for Esthetics, and contributed the botanical skin care and botanical chemistry chapters for the new Milady’s Standard Esthetics: Advanced, which came out in March. I have also developed  for the marketplace botanical, organic skin care products based on my nutritional and holistic philosophy. Presently I’m working on several extremely exciting projects and books.

If you have any questions about botanicals, nutrients, defining natural and organic or the current standards regarding both, just post here. I think lots of people are interested and confused about the current natural and organic skin care industry.
